It's not often that a company lasts as long as Tunturi, but the company has managed to weather over 80 years in business. The company first started as a bicycle business but in the 1950's and then started building fitness equipment later on. It wasn't until the 1970's that the company finally got the respect it deserved in the industry and were able to become known as a world leader in the production of fitness equipment.
This Finland based company not only made the decision to build fitness equipment as a strategic business decision, but also because of a conviction that people should strive to be healthy. Today the company is part of a larger company called Accell Group and most of their manufacturing is based in Taiwan because of the low cost to build high quality equipment.
Tunturi treadmills are positioned not as a discount treadmill and not as a premium treadmill, but rather somewhere in the middle. Starting at the low end of their price range, the Tunturi T20 is a perfect beginners' treadmill, as is the Tunturi T30. The Tunturi T40 offers more features and includes a heart rate monitor and orthopedic running belt which will spare your muscles and joints when you run. There's also a T80 and T85 before getting to the top of the line Tunturi T90. The T90 is their most expensive model and it can rival more premium machines. The only downfall of the T90 though is the fact that it does not fold down like the rest of the Tunturi treadmill lineup.
One area where Tunturi has been highly praised is in the quality of design and parts used - it is unlikely that any replacements or maintenance is needed with a Tunturi Treadmill.
